The Netherlands has unveiled a 400-million euro ($457 million) military aid package to boost Ukraine’s maritime defense against Russia.
The package includes over 100 fast patrol craft, transport boats, and special operations vessels, along with more than 50 maritime drones of undisclosed types.
Weapon systems, sensors, and spare parts are also part of the donation.

An additional 20 million euros ($22.8 million) will be invested in training, munitions, tactical gear, and equipment for Ukrainian marines.
Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans confirmed the assistance during this month’s session of a multinational security cooperation group for Ukraine in Brussels, Belgium.
“It is an important package to strengthen the maritime security of Ukraine. We see that the Russian threat on the Black Sea and the Dnieper River, among other places, is only increasing,” the minister remarked.
“The port of Odessa and the trade routes that run through the Black Sea are considered the lifeblood of the Ukrainian economy. Without the right protection, it can collapse. We simply cannot let that happen.”
Last F-16s in Ukraine
The announcement comes shortly after the Netherlands sent the last of its promised F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of a coalition with the US and Denmark.
The aircraft were sent off last week from Volkel Air Base and prepared in Belgium prior to commissioning into the Ukrainian armed service.
“That’s not the end of the job,” Brekelmans said at the Brussels event regarding the F-16 milestone.
“Our work continues with the training of pilots, maintenance personnel and other ground personnel. We also continue to support the Ukrainian Air Force in terms of parts, infrastructure and ammunition.”
